House of Sherell Hosts Midwest Fashion Show (video)

Haute Midwest was on location Wednesday, November 6 at the Iowa Culinary Institute’s ici Bistro on the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Campus in Ankeny, IA, when House of Sherell, a division of Sherell Ra Sha Inc, hosted its first annual fashion show and banquet. Event Sponsors included Sherell Ra Sha Inc, GSIA Designs, Virginia Logan, and Robin Papousek.

The show featured looks from three Iowa based designers: 1) Ra Sha (Deborah Morris) – Founder & CEO of Sherell Ra Sha Inc and House of Sherell; 2) GSIA (Shenica Graham) – CIO of Sherell Ra Sha Inc and Senior House of Sherell Designer; and 3) Trecia Leachmon – DMACC Fashion Design Student. Deborah Morris and Shenica Graham are also DMACC Students in Fashion Design and Web Development, respectively.

Distinguished guests at this event included Karen Huer – DMACC Fashion Department Chair, Emeritus; Cindy Marshall – DMACC Fashion Design Club Coordinator, Elizabeth “Ann” Law – DMACC Interior Design & Sewing Instructor, Deann Hebert – Des Moines East High School Sewing / Fashion Instructor, and six Des Moines East High School Sewing / Fashion Dignitaries in attendance included MD Isley – Dean, Business Management Information Technology at DMACC, Russ Moorehead –  DMACC Marketing / Management / Fashion Design Department Chair, Neil Kokemuller – DMACC Marketing Instructor, Susan Verhulst – DMACC Management Instructor, Cindy Marshall – DMACC Fashion / Design Instructor, and Ann Gadbury – DMACC Fashion / Design Instructor.

Models for this event (alphabetically by last name) were Lydia Halcomb, Anna Hathaway, Lauren Kawamura, Ashlyn Lee, Kona Lumeh, Nora Mandil, Shawndra Morris, Sawanda Stephenson, Annie, and Brea. Laurel Augustine provided stellar make up service for the models. Security was provided by On Point Security – who were all dressed as “Men In Black,” complete with super sleek shades. House of Sherell plans to have four fashion shows annually beginning in 2014: there will be new looks for Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
